The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the revised SHAKTI scheme. This scheme aims to allocate coal to the power sector transparently. It will help meet both long-term and short-term coal requirements. Fresh coal linkages will be granted to thermal power plants. The scheme introduces two windows for coal linkage.
