Excess renewable capacity underutilised: Power Minister Manohar Lal

India is a power-surplus nation but needs energy storage. Pumped storage projects will store excess green power. This will meet electricity needs when the sun is not shining. Floating solar projects can reduce reservoir evaporation. Many projects are under construction and in planning. The country has significant potential for these storage systems.
